About Temple

This temple is the oldest, the 20th of the 108 Divya shrines and the temple where more than 100 pasuras were consecrated by Thirumangaiyazhwar. The Kalkaruda Seva which takes place here twice a year is one of the world famous. Puranas and history glorify this Thiruthalam as Sukandakrishetra, Sukanda Vanam, Siddhi Shetra, Duvadasashara Shetra, Panchaviugathalam, Bashirajan Shetra and Manimata Koil, which has four types of merits namely Aridam, Pauranikam, Swayam Viyakadam and Divyadesam.
