Aheendran means Adhisation. This place was built by Adiseshan. The nearby hill is the place where Brahma did penance. Hence it got its name as Brummasalam and Aushadasalam because a part of the Aushata hill which was conquered by Anjaneya is included in it. The river brought by Garuda flows beside. This river is known as Garuda river.The temple also has a well built by Adiseshan. Pradhanamurthy in the temple has many names like Devanathan, Achuthan, Strajyotis, Anaka Jyotis, Mevu Jyoti, Muvarakhaya Murthy, Adiyavarku Meiyan, Deivanayagan, Dasasathyan.
